Are You Afraid of Failure or Success?

by Michael on June 16, 2010

Failure is a fear that exists for many entrepreneurs. Especially for those who are starting their very first business. It is also the reason why many people never even attempt to start their own business. Many people think that if you don’t attempt something, you can’t fail at it. That’s true, but you also can’t succeed with it either.

Nobody likes to fail at something. Working hard at something only to fail really hurts. However, the best lessons are learned from failure. If you are starting your journey to financial freedom, you cannot be afraid of failure. You will experience many failures on your path to success. That’s a guarantee because it’s not an easy ride. Thomas Edison built more than 10,000 light bulb prototypes before he got it right. But he was successful because he never gave up. He believed that a person doesn’t fail, they only give up trying. So according to Edison, failure doesn’t exist.

But could your fear of failure actually a hidden fear of success? Think about it for a second. If you started a business and began making more money than you could dream of, how would this new money affect you? Would your family grow closer, or farther apart? Would you lose old friends, or gain new ones? Would your personality change? It’s true that money changes people. But would money change you?

If you are just starting your path to financial freedom, you cannot be afraid of failure or success. Don’t give up at something just because of one little problem. Learn how to resolve your problems or work around them. If you achieve your goal of becoming financially free, you’ll still be the same person inside and out. You just won’t have to worry about money anymore because you have worked hard to achieve your goal.
