Create Passive Income by Selling Information

By: Michael Press

Selling information has become a really big business in the United States. Information is sold everyday in the forms of ebooks, newspapers, seminars, television, magazines, and the internet. It is possible to research different information about topics you enjoy, create a product that presents that information, and then sell it. There are many entrepreneurs out there that sell information, and those entrepreneurs are commonly called "Infopreneurs".

The goal of an infopreneur is to setup a system where his or her information products are sold with little or no work involved. The only work involved would be creating the information product. After creating the product, infopreneurs create a system where the product sells itself. Because profit potential varies, it's impossible to estimate how much passive income selling information products can produce. However, many infopreneurs have been able to create a monthly income of $15,000.00 or more from the information products that they have created.

Information can be sold in many different ways. One thing to expect however is that you are either going to have to write, or going to have to talk. Your information has to get out to your customers somehow. If you are good at writing, then you could sell information in the forms of magazines, newspapers, ebooks, or paperback books. If you are a good talker, then you can sell your information in the forms of seminars or Audio CD's. Here are some different ways that you can create information products.

  • Audio CD's: If your computer has a printer, a CD burner, and a microphone, you can create your own information Audio CD's to sell. You would record your information with the microphone, and then burn it onto the CD. You would use your printer to create professional looking labels to place on the CD's.
  • Magazines: You can create a magazine with your own computer. You would need a laser printer so you can print hundreds of copies, and then distribute the magazine to your subscribers. The magazine could be written in Microsoft Word.
  • Websites: You could sell information on a website by creating a "Members Only" part of a website. A one-time or recurring fee would be charged to those who want to become members. Members could be the only ones able to access the information you are selling. It is possible to create a membership system on a website that will run itself, while you sit back and reap the profits.
  • Ebooks: This idea is described in detail on page 17. Ebooks produce massive profits because they don't need to be shipped, there are no printing costs involved, and you can sell them directly to customers yourself because you wouldn't have to sell them wholesale.
